The former single vineyard, sloping southward directly above Wissembourg and included in the Sonnenberg since 1971, is the warmest site in the district. On soils of yellow limestone with a low clay content, brilliant, profound, and taut Pinots with berry fruit flourish here, ranking among the best of their kind.

Weingut Jülg

Palatinate (Pfalz), Germany

In Schweigen, located directly on the German-French border in the southern Palatinate, the Jülg family winery has been established since 1961. Here, Werner and his son Johannes Jülg cultivate around 25 hectares of organic vineyards. The focus of their range is on Burgundy grape varieties and Riesling.

An interesting quirk of history: due to its location, 50% of the vineyards are in Wissembourg, on French territory. Before the Schengen Agreement, carrying a passport was mandatory for vineyard work. Today, these two German-French border-crossers unite the best of both cultures every day.
