The Steiner vineyard in Sopron is located in the southwesternmost corner of Lake Neusiedl, on a gentle slope facing east. In 1680, the annals of Ödenburg classified this vineyard as the best and most expensive vineyard in western Hungary (present-day Burgenland). The gneiss and mica schist that reach the surface make the soil permeable, thus dry and hot.

Fourth Furmint vintage from the Steiner vineyard. The barren soil of this vineyard seems ideal for this variety. Unlike the limestone vineyards, it develops a somewhat riper, golden aroma here.
