Caiarossa S.R.L. Società Agricola – Riparbella (Pisa), Tuscany
The Caiarossa winery is located in the heart of the Val di Cecina, near the Tuscan coast, overlooking the islands of Elba and Capraia. Founded in 1998, the estate originally consisted only of the striking manor house and the red, iron-rich soil, which gave the winery its name.

In 2004, Dutch entrepreneur Eric Albada Jelgersma, a passionate wine enthusiast, acquired the estate. He also owned Château Giscours and Château du Tertre, two Grand Cru Classé wineries in Margaux, Bordeaux.
The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with westerly winds, usually in the afternoon, and cool nights. Winters are wet and rainy, while summers are dry and hot. The vineyards are located on sloping terrain facing the sea. Before planting, extensive soil analyses were conducted, leading to the definition of 12 individual plots, each planted with grape varieties best suited to the specific soil type.
Today, the winery cultivates 11 different grape varieties, including Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, as well as the white varieties Chardonnay and Viognier.
Caiarossa follows biodynamic principles and is certified by Ecocert and Demeter. The modern winery, designed according to geo-biological principles and Feng Shui, operates using gravity flow, avoiding the use of pumps that could strain the wine. Additionally, the cellar relies on natural materials such as cement and wood, ensuring a harmonious aging process.
