For the Westhofen Riesling, grapes from adjacent vineyards are also cellared in addition to grapes from the VDP.GROSSEN LAGEN® Morstein and Brunnenhäuschen, which are delineated by parcel. These are classified as VDP.ERSTE LAGE®. Here, the typical limestone minerality of Westhofen is evident. These are wines of high fruit ripeness. Dense and mineral, they show the potential of the top sites of Westhofen.
The excellent year 2023 produced wines with ripe acidity, lots of fruit and an expressive character, after the aromatically rather reserved previous year. The Westhofener Riesling from Wittmann has a fine fruit with white and yellow tones, as well as an animating clarity and minerality. On the palate it is juicy and very precise and grippy at the same time. The finish is impressively long, yet always fresh, animating and powerful. In its category, this is a benchmark that many other wineries cannot reach. It can mature for a long time, but already tastes almost irresistibly good.
