The Domaine René Bouvier is located in Gevrey-Chambertin, the famous winegrowing village near Dijon. The winery was founded in 1910 by Henri Bouvier, the grandfather of the current owner, and has been in the family for three generations. Since 1992, Bernard Bouvier has been managing the estate, having taken over from his father René, who expanded the vineyard area to 12 hectares by 1991. Today, the estate spans 17 hectares, spread across six municipalities and 18 appellations, ranging from Gevrey-Chambertin in the south to Dijon in the north.

The estate’s AOC wines include Bourgogne, Côte de Nuits Village, Gevrey-Chambertin Village, Fixin Village, Marsannay Village, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, and Grand Cru. Bernard cultivates Burgundy’s classic grape varieties—Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté—and benefits from old vines with an average age of 50 years, some over 80 years old.

Bernard Bouvier is an experienced and ambitious winemaker who follows organic and ecological principles in his vineyards, with the goal of obtaining organic certification soon. His philosophy centers on careful vineyard management and soil preservation, ensuring harmony and biodiversity.

René Bouvier’s red wines ferment for about 20 days without the addition of enzymes or yeasts, allowing nature to shape the vinification process. The maceration cap is gently submerged under controlled temperatures, and after gentle pressing, the wine ages in carefully selected French oak barrels, custom-toasted by coopers according to specific guidelines. In a dedicated red wine cellar, the barrels mature for 16-18 months before bottling.

The meticulous, individualized aging process allows each vineyard’s unique character and terroir to be fully expressed. René Bouvier’s single-vineyard wines are remarkable representations of their microclimates and soil diversity, offering individuality, clarity, balance, and minerality—a true reflection of the finest Burgundy.
